Material - It is a physical substance from which things are made. Everything around us made up of something that is known as material. All these objects shown in picture are made up of one or more materials. Ex. metal, plastic,wood etc. Sometimes an object is madeup of a single material , an object could also be made of many materials and one material could be used for making different objects. It depends on the property of material and the purpose for which object used. For eg. A tumbler is never made up of a piece of cloth because it cannot hold water. So to make tumbler we need glass, plastic or any other material that can hold water. Properties of material 1. Fabric or cloth is made up of yarns or thread . Yarn us further made up of still thinner strands called fibre. Fibre is of two kinds. 1. Natural fibre-   Fibre that is obtained from plants or animals is called natural fibre. Fibres obtained from plants are cotton, jute,flax. Food- It is a substance that we eat. It consists of essential nutrients like protein, carbohydrates, fats and minerals that are needed by our body to nourish it.   Importances of food 1. It provides essential nutrients to our body. 2.It provides energy to our body for performing activities. 3.It helps in the growth of our body. Food variety  - There is so much variety of food that we eat in our daily life. It means eating different food at every meal, every day all the time.
